About Steph

Steph Watts represents the New Face of News Coverage. More than just a reporter, he travels the world as a seasoned Field Producer, Writer, Video-journalist and Blogger. A native of Canada, Steph spent 4 years in northern Canada as a Forest Ranger. When he returned to his native city of Toronto, he worked as a model/actor for the prestigious Elite agency while attending Ryerson University, where he studied Film Making, Television News Production and Journalism.

Steph moved to New York City in 1999, after attending a summer program for foreign students at NYU and began to write for various publications including the Village Voice, Brills’ Content Magazine and an assortment of websites. Steph then began producing hour long documentaries for Court TV before moving to Daytime Trial Coverage where he gained extensive knowledge in the criminal justice system covering live trials gavel to gavel. He then produced an entertainment/legal show called “Hollywood at Large”, executive produced and co-hosted a radio show with Nancy Grace featuring daily coverage of the Scott Peterson trial and launched Grace's TV show on CNN Headlines News where he continued to report from the field.

Steph has also produced and reported for MTV Networks, PBS, “On the Record with Greta van Susteren” on the FOX NEWS Channel and ABC News’ “Good Morning America”

Steph received 2 Telly Award, (Telly’s are awards given out for independent television production companies achievement in producing quality television) Both pieces aired on PBS, the first an hour on Hate Crimes and a second piece looking at an unusual medical condition referred to as “Intersex” (often referred to a hermaphrodites) Steph’s compelling piece led him to lecture international medical experts and activists in the medical field.

An emotional story teller, Steph is never without his camera, he has been able to capture breaking news from the scene of many national and international news stories. Steph uses his years of experience to bring first hand accounts from the people closest to the story.
